As a natural progression she began her acting career in 1997 with bit roles in episodes of 'Clueless' (UPN/ABC, 1996-99) and 'Conan' (1997) series, while appearing regularly on Sunset Beach (NBC, 1997-99). She also hosted two shows the short-lived "Prime Time Comedy" (NBC, 1998) and "America's Greatest Pets" (UPN, 1998).
In 1998, Ali Landry was offered the Doritos commercial. This was probably her greatest exposure as a model/star post all the beauty pageants hype. The commercial utilized Ali's gymnastic training exceptionally well in the role of a beautiful woman who is just doing her laundry, but who loves the snack so much that she is ready to defy physical law. Ali's splits collectively had the American men drooling at her body. Aired during the Super Bowl, the popular commercial propelled Ali into stardom and she became an overnight sensation!
Though Ali Landry may have received some roles purely for her looks, she did manage to handle the character parts rather well. These included a multi-episode role on the syndicated "Pensacola: Wings of Gold" (1997-2000) and a recurring role on "Felicity" (WB, 1998-2002) as Natalie, the unexpected spouse of series regular Scott Foley.
It was during the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1998, that Ali met Mario Lopez. After a long courtship of 6 years, the pair got married in 2004, but the marriage was annulled soon after. Ali Landry has been acting in many low-budget and independent movies as well as TV series such as her only big-screen feature, "Beautiful," (2000), "Soulkeeper" (2001), the National Lampoon sci-fi sex comedy "Repli-Kate" (2002), and "Who's Your Daddy?" (2003).
