Sillunu Oru Kaadhal with Suriya, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu with Kamal Haasan, Manmadhan with Silambarasan, Chandramukhi with Rajinikanth, Pachaikili Muthuccharam with Sarathkumar were some of her best movies. Mozhi directed by Radhamohan with Prithviraj exploited her acting abilities very well. Her awards are many. She got the best actress, Tamil Nadu State Award for 2005 for her role in Chandramukhi. She also bagged the filmfare awards for the years 1999, 2000 and 2003. A dedicated actress, she gave up her career after her with her co star Suriya.
The bubbly and lively lady, who started her career seven years ago, has matured into an actress of very strong personality and conviction. Today she handles complex roles with great maturity and authority. Very recently, she stumped audiences with her role in Chandramukhi.
Right now both Jyotika and Surya, with whom she has formed a hit pair, are on the threshold of stardom. Both have been giving massive box office hits but are hesitant to talk about their courtship and impending marriage.
When Metro Plus asks the ebullient actress if marriage is going to hamper some very interesting offers she says, Many a time, it happens that way. But if people want me in films, they will accept me irrespective of my relationship with him.
Jyotika is full of passion for life and that comes across in everything she does. Sensitive one moment, strong and steel like the next, she is indeed intriguing.
I was not comfortable initially when I came into Tamil cinema. But within a year I started loving my work. I always looked for a wider audience, especially the women. My films are very non-glamorous and my characters are very real. Unlike my sister , stuck to Tamil cinema and that made my work simpler. I too was enthusiastic about Hindi films and Doli Sajake Rakhna was shot in Chennai. That's where I was spotted. My parents are very grounded and they don't accompany us to the sets and indulge in PR. We are given our space and they are very much there for us.
